Geez.....billing resellers is a pain in the neck.
When you guys bill your reseller customers and their resold accounts do you wait and bill them at the end of the month according to how many accounts they accumualted throughout the month as one lump fee?
Or do you bill them throughout the month as they add new accounts? But then the reseller is gonna have like a hundred different transactions on their CC statement.
I`m curious to see how others do it cause i`m not sure of the least pain in the neck way to do it.....it`s only them reseller customers who are annoying to bill.....

We are in the process of setting up our Reseller plan. We were planning to bill at the end of every month. So each reseller would be billed 1 time monthly. We plan to pro-rate each account so they will be billed for the appropriate time that the account was online. We just made a spreadsheet so we could easily tell how much each account should/will cost based on days 1-31. We have not started yet but this seems like a good plan.

Yeah...i guess your right and it`s better to bill at the very end of each month according to how many accounts the reseller has accumulated. Cause this whole time i`ve been billing them in the beginning of the month and every time they add an account up until the 15th day of each month. If an account is added after the 15th day then i don`t charge them at all for that month.
But every single hosting company i`ve seen so far bills throughout the month and the poor reseller customer ends up having about a hundred different transactions scattered all over the place on their CC statement.
Nelson.......you live in Boca Raton Florida? I live in Palm Beach Gardens and go to Boca all the time.

I am not sure if this is the best way to bill resellers but, it seems logical and fair to me. Hopefully it will work out good when it goes into effect.
And yes I do live in Boca Raton, Florida. About as far Southwest as you can go and still be in Boca.

Yes, it is a pain.....I sort of do a balancing act when charging my resellers. I charge the resold accounts at the same time that I charge their main account, so it is all one charge. But if they end up with alot of signups in between their main account charge, I'll start another charge day in the middle.

Oh boy.....well at least i`m glad i`m not the only one who thinks it`s a pain. Billing non-resellers is way more fun.

Hey Jaiem! :)
Now you`re confusing me.....i just changed my mind and don`t like billing at the very end of the month. It`d be much nicer to just bill resellers the 1st-15th and then not charge anything after that till next month. And then at the end of the month i`d just send them an email saying what the total should be when they add up all the charges on their CC statement?
Do you think that is a crappy way to do it?

I think it's better to bill people with a single figure, regardless. (Some customers just have multiple accounts after all). By billing all over the place they have a hard time knowing exactly how much they're paying. Good for us I suppose, but better for them if they have a clear idea of how much they're paying each month. We're actually in the middle of setting up a new billing system (in-house as opposed to outsourcing) and plan on doing just that - one bill pro-rated, then billed on the 1st

Changed mind again.....i`ll just bill resellers once a month then at the very end of the month.
Even though it was much more convenient the other way...but at least they won`t have a million different transactions on their CC statement this way.
