osCommerce is free, but lacks in the ease of use and design areas. X-Cart and CS-Cart are very good but may be a bit too expensive. Cube Cart is ok I guess.
If you're looking for the best overall - have a look at cs-cart (http://www.cs-cart.com)!

you are looking for shopping cart running in windows hosting??
you will need ASP based shopping cart eg. vpasp shopping cart

however, you could use hosting with ecommerce ready. PHP only.
eg. hostgator, startlogic etc there many others hosting that provide these as well. good luck :D

You definitely want to find a product that is search engine friendly. Rather than just take the supplier's word for it, I would search Google for 'ecommerce package' or something like that. The suppliers that know about SEO - and therefore know how to build search-friendly products - are likely to come out highest in the rankings.

As I know Avactis shopping cart (http://www.avactis.com) is very easy to use both for the store owners with no computer skills and for web developers with basic programming skills. As I heard on another forums it's very easy from storefront customization point of view and you can integrate storefront with your design into the existing web site very easily.

You might want to check out Magento (http://www.magentocommerce.com/). You would need to provide support for MySQL and such on your windows servers, but it should work and it's open source, free, and a pretty nice package.

I suggest you to use http://www.zeuscart.com as it is open sources. Beside all other features this software is based on PHP Smarty templates, this makes it very flexible and easy to modify.

I will personaly get some SEO advice first. before even buying the domain.
This can save you lots and lots of money, and after the savings it may even make you lots and lots of money.

A good SEO person/company will help you find the right domain for your service/product, and this will help you allot to rank high for the correct keywords.

Than I will personally ask the SEO person to make a pure HTML page as my entree page, and only than the shop. I hope this helps,Eco

An ecommerce Generic Template cost about $115 one off payment with 6 months support and free upgrades. Their site has a wealth of info and once you installed the template you can use as much or as lttle of it as you want. My site literally lifted the php scripting for each page that accessed the SQL Databases, the rest of the page is all my own design work eg. buttons, css etc.

Once your basic pages are set up it's simply a case of chnging anything you don't like.

Have a look at the forums and you can see that not only are all queries resolved but usually you get an answer to a query within the hour.

I simply have no experience of working with databases so ecommerce was the obvious choice.

You have to find a product, search engine friendly. Rather than taking its suppliers, I want to search Google for e-commerce package 'or something like that. The supplier to understand search engine optimization - and therefore know how to build search - environmentally friendly products may be out of the highest-ranked.

I will personally get some search engine optimization proposal first. Even before buying the domain.
This can save you a lot of money, and after the savings and may even make you a lot of money.

A good SEO person / company will help you find the right services for your domain / product, which will help you allocate the correct keywords ranked high.

Than I will personally request SEO people, so my main course page of pure HTML pages, more than just shop. I hope this helps, and ecological.

I'd say you are looking at Zend, Joomla or any of the other php/MySQL/Apache solutions. However, the Zend, Drupal, Joomla frameworks that you can add commerce solutions, they are very complex and assume you already know bare bones coding for sql and php. You will have to know php / mySql and then learn one of the above frameworks.

On any of this stuff it has complexity setting levels of authorization on a hierarchy of folders. I recommend Linux. It's free, but you have to teach yourself many things.

BigCommerce eCommerce hosting as many features, website creation, shopping cart, credit card processing and payment gateway integration comes. Hosting storage space or bandwidth as goEmerchant, Yahoo Merchant or Fortune3 not as large, but it is more than enough to get the job done can be. When it comes to website building, this program is the whole process a walk in the park. Just choose a template or, if you are a coder, a storefront from scratch to make yourself. Fully customizable templates as well, are you already have files that meet your needs can tweak sense.

Be sure to see what options are available to payment gateways, and specifically what credit card processors you can use, and what percentage they take. Processors rates are really fluxuating these days, and some of them are extremely painful!
