these darn horizontal scroll bars!!

What the heck....i made my tables width to be 100% but for some screwy reason when you start to click on several different pages of my site that icky horizontal scroll bar shows up and makes my site look like crap. I hate horizontal scroll bars. I don`t get why it`s showing up.....can`t rid of it.

Whenever i make a table width to be 100% a scroll bar shows up, it`s not supposed to?

Tables are an necessary pain!

Sounds like you have some text or graphics that too big for the table.

I never make a table the full 100%, usually 95-98%.

If you're using something like Dreamweaver make sure to check on those cell widths as well. Sometimes an absolute value will creep in when you're not looking and force the table width out.

Simple tables are always best for 100% - the more cells, the more room for error. I usually split a site into a header, content and footer table (3 in total). It makes it easy to keep the header and footer out there at 100%, and speeds up the load of the page as browsers won't have to read too far ahead and rendering each table.

Geez, i think i may be cursed when it comes to site design.

But the pesky horizontal scroll bars only show up when you leave a page and then go back to it......it doesn`t do it all the time......just most of the time. It makes no sense. I tried fixing it a million times....but no luck.....now giving up. I`ll PM my URL to anyone who cares to look and laugh at this miserable whatever you want to call it.....

I just love table challenges. I get it all the time with webhostdir being an expandy-100%-fill-your-browser-whatever-the-width sites.

Thanks for the 2 images but it didn`t amange to fix it.....that horizontal scroll bar keeps showing up still.......i think i just maybe need to change the bottom tables further down the page.......i think i messed up there. Oh well.

Hmm, strange that, It worked all fine for me after the image edits. Oh well, it looks like I'll just be a pretender and never make it to HTML designer heaven. ;)

Nope didn`t fix :(

The horizontal scroll bar still showed up all the time when it`s only viewed in 800X600. Hate horizontal bars. I even removed all the top images so i think i messed up towards the bottom part or something.....ah shucks.
