For giving telnet access, does the domain need to have a dedicated unique IP ? or it can also work on simple domain allocation as well.

Telnet will run on Unix and NT boxes "listening" to a certain port number. Every machine must have a IP address (unless it is a datacenter type application where you are routed to the least busy computer).

If all websites on this machine are bound to the network card, then you can access telnet by typing:

telnet http://www.machine.com (if you or your host choose to set this up) or telnet 123.123.123.123

or:

telnet http://www.website1.com or telnet http://www.website2.com if both websites are running on the same machine.

I think thats the answer your looking for ?

I completely forgot that I had posted on here! Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I already got the answer a few months ago ;-)

Still I can see the forums have picked up a lot since then.

I'm sure you'll find the new forums moderators able to answer all your technical questions. Each of them is extremely active in the hosting industry and combined they have a lot of years worth of experiences to share.
