I've been an Alabanza host for more than 18 months and have been fairly satisfied with them. Unfortunately, due to the slow economy and some personal technical and financial difficulties, I've had to close down my reseller program and give up the server.

However I plan set myself up as a reseller for another company and move my 25 regular customers to that server.

Until today, I was determined to find another Alabanza customer because I really like the Control Panel and many of their features. However, based on my research this week, I believe there are some real advantages to using CPanel and WebHostManager. Especially if I go with a company where I can custom configure my hosting plans.

I would like to ask this group the following:
- Why do you like or dislike CPanel & WebHost Manager?

- Can you give me the URL of a good demo for WebHost Manager? All the ones I found do not seem to work.

- How difficult is it to customize the "look and feel" of CPanel? I understand you can create "skins" for it.

- Does anyone know of a good "off the shelf" affiliate software for web hosting. Several of my resellers want to stay with me and operate in an affiliate mode rather than as a reseller. I want to be able to pay the affiliate a commission for every month that customer hosts with Roy Services.

If anyone wants to contact me about their reseller plans, just go to http://royservices.com/rsrfq.html and complete the form. We will check out your info and web site and respond accordingly.

Thanks in advance.

We've just pulled out of Alabanza ourselves, rather due to their slowing network and shocking support levels. I was more than a little concerned over using CPanel/WHM after having a go at it 6 months ago on a test account - errors and poor stability

It's a lot better than it used to be now. I'm actually quite happy with it. It's different to Ala's DOM, but to be honest I think it's better. It lacks a little of the stablity of Ala, but not enough to bother me at all. The advantages of it's feature list puts it ahead.

Customizing it? MWahhaaaa... Umm, about 200 odd files to alter manually, one at a time, and make sure all cpanel tags remain where they should or it falls over :) We're 'starting' on a custom skin now actually... Hosts often will yet you use your own skin as a reseller, but it's a matter of making it and sending it to them, which they drop into place within your account from root

http://www.groundbreak.com has a good affiliate script that will do monthly recurring commissions.

Regarding a WHM demo, e-mail me and I'll give you some info. We won't be offering reseller accounts for quite a while yet, but it'll give you a better idea what you're getting into when you sign up with someone.
