Hi everyone!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! It's good to be back posting on this board. ;)

I am a beginner user of Paint Shop Pro, and I want to design a snazzy graphic for the top of my home page. Actually, I'm in the process of redesigning my site using Dreamweaver, and I'd like to make it look much more professional.

Ok, so here's my question:

I'd like to combine several pictures, or I should probably say overlap them somewhat, and then merge them into one graphic, and white out certain areas using the airbrush tool. If you have the time, you can check out www.mun.ca to get an actual look at what I want to do.

The trouble is, I'm not sure how to open more than one picture using PSP 6 at the same time. Once I create a new layer, do I open a picture within that layer? If so, how? Or am I going about this the wrong way?

If someone can point me in the right direction, or provide me with a good tutorial on this, please let me know.

Thanks for your help,

Amanda Ayles

Hi Amanda,

It's great to have you back!

I haven't used PSP 6 but have dabbled with 3 and 4 in the past. I only use Photoshop now but they principals are all the same.

I would create a new layer and paste in the new image I want. Not sure if this is possible in PSP but check out

http://www.jasc.com/tutorials/6tsites.asp?

if you are looking for guides.

And thanks for the advice and the welcome back. :)

Actually, you can paste as a new layer without opening the layer. Trouble was, I knew that much, but somewhere along the way, the creators of PSP forgot that at times, us budding designers lack common sense!

What I mean is that I was copying outside of PSP, and of course, when I went to paste as new layer, the option was inactive. I didn't realize that I had to actually open every image I want to use inside PSP!

Now by George, I think I've got it! :D

Thanks again!

Layers are a bit fiddly to get the hang of to begin with but after a bit of experimenting and a couple hours of puzzling frustration it all becomes clear.

keep at it! :)
