Did a quick search on these boards and didn't find anything on CobaltHost.com ? They are kinda new to commercial hosting but have been around a while. I like their RaQ4 package, but am looking for users opinions first on uptime etc.

I e-mailed their support and got replys in literally minutes!

So anyway, I'll leave it with you.

I'm searching for a new ded. server as well.
I've considered CobaltHost so I did some latency/PL tests over a few days, and experienced 1 to 3% Packet Loss on several occasions.

hmm... i've seen them selling hardware on ebay... (not a bad thing at all)... but i'd have to say they're definately overpriced ($800/Mbps)... and aren't really truthful when they say "100 Mbps Ethernet port. Diverse routing available."... u'd think a provider would enable "diverse routing" on traffic to their own site... yet for the traceroutes i've done from my servers on both the west coast, central and east coasts... i always end up going through the same route in the end...

additionally... another cogent powered provider... well, in this case... a company that resells cogent that resells them (unless five-star-communications is the same as dv2.net)... which would probably explain the packet loss...

110ms ping time from me, so thats pretty good for west coast to east coast... :) their site loaded up decent fast... on their about page they talk about having connections to level3, global crossing, qwest, verio and fnsi... definately not possible... because my service provider on the east coast peers with all of 'em... yet... i still end up going through a cogent feed to them (my provider peers w/cogent too, but i doubt thats why i ended up w/a cogent feed to 'em... heh)... from everywhere i tried...

goto: http://www.visualware.com/visualroute/livedemo.html

pretty cool site/service... can do traceroutes from 'em to anywhere... and the results are pretty accurate... :) hehe... i get 0ms from Vienna, VA to my servers on the east coast... going from verio (where the traceroute server is hosted) to ardent (where my servers are)... :)
