Has anyone had any dealings with Burst.net dedicated servers?
I placed an order on Thursday at about 3pm; I had not heard a word. So I called on Saturday about 11am and a tech told me he was sorry and he would get a server request form out to me as soon as possible. He also instructed me to contact Sean at his personal email address (this is the person in charge of new orders) Well today is Wednesday 11am (6 days later) and I have not received a single word. Wait that is not true, I received an invoice, on Friday, and two invoices on Saturday which were totally incorrect (doubled).
Is this what I can expect?

I have not heard of Burst.net myself although someone here may have. In the meantime I think you should keep your options open.
Here is a good article on how to choose a dedicated host http://uk.dedicatedserverdir.com/guides/dedicatedservers/, it goes through some key areas to look for when looking for a dedicated web host.
There is also a list of dedicated hosts in our spotlight section which should give you a good starting point.
/spotlight/dedicated.asp (http://www.webhostdir.com/spotlight/dedicated.asp)
Or you could try our Host compare system which will give you quotes from some of the leading dedicated web hosts. http://www.dedicatedserverdir.com/hostquote/
Hope this has been some help, let us know how you get on.

From all I've heard of Burst (and Sean), once you get set up they provide a good service (uptime etc). They have had some criticism for being slow to set up servers initially though. A few forums around have some rather extensive threads on this same subject.
I'd personally recommend pwebtech (Pegasus Web Technologies) for a faster attention to detail.

hmm... a friend of mine has a server at burst... (www.geekarea.org)... he's been pretty happy with the service... when he has support requirements, he calls one of the guys at the top, directly so i guess his support experience will probably be different than everybody else... network glitches, they seem to have quite frequently (evenings, 5-10 min downtimes every few days)... but the last time i heard about those from him were like a few months ago, so they may have fixed it by now...
heh... i had experienced the same type of issue on Applied Theory's network everyday for two full months... those bastards didn't even give me a service credit... hmm... LOL
