Hi

I haven't seen any posts regarding Advanced Internet Technologies (http://www.aitcom.net) so here's one.

Firstly I do have to say that their uptime truly is 99.999% of the time and that if you have a problem/question it is dealt with very quickly....

However, costs have gone up and now I'm paying around $120 a month (my account and about a dozen virtual hosts). Do I change companies and spend time transferring my information to a new but cheaper company, only for that company to collapse or have my customers' sites down?

I did have a period where rather than advise me there was a problem with my account I was deactivated first and then had to sort the problem (and pay reactivation fees). Having read a few of the forums this doesn't seem to be that uncommon with some other companies.

Anyway, I haven't written this to complain, more to get other users opinions of AIT and feedback on switching companies...

Cheers all!

Theres that old saying "If it aint broke don't fix it!" but you could save some money by moving to another host that performs just as well. Trouble is, how do you find that host that you are happy with?

How about moving one or two of the less critical websites over to a new company to try them out. That would minimise the risk seeing as you are fairly satisfied with AIT.

I would not agree with that. Fact is, lots of old-timers charge high prices comparing to what is standard on the market. Some companies havent changed their pricing and features since mid 90's and those clients who follow the rule " if it aint broke dont fix it" pay 3 times of what they could pay for same or better service.
As far as AIT goes...after they doubled their pricing from 2 to 4 bucks per site on the reseller accounts.... hey if you host 20 clients thats $960/year. Some companies will get you hosted for that price...AIT charges that just on domain name charges.
I'd suggest you to look around, send couple e-mails...get few offers. Dont try to host everything for 20$/month , but if you find presentable and stable enough company - why not save these few hundred dollars and do some shopping :)

hrmedclinic ,

I agree with your point about old prices and features. I do think there are savings to be made by moving :)

Hehe :) depends who you move to :)
One thing AIT has going good is the free shopping cart.
But other then that.....they are crazy overpriced

Well you have to applaud them for their business strategy. If everyone has been lowering their prices over the last two years but they stuck to their guns and held them but still maintained customers then they are providing a fine return for the company.

Offcourse, consumers would see this as a rip off :)
