View Full Version : Paying for Hosting by Check...

DesertSage

I'm stopping using my credit cards, I'm also unwilling to go with online debit. I'm looking for a new host and have decided that they have to be able to take a check (in advance, for a year's hosting, if I can afford them!) ... sure narrows down my choices, doesn't it?

This is a smallish (under 5 meg) site, low traffic, nothing fancy, and I expect to pay in the $75/year range. The only real requirement I have is that I can pay for a year's hosting in advance by *check*.

If you'd like this post moved to the advertising section people will be able to post a reply with an offer for you. I knwow hy you don't have your e-mail turned on *lol* so I won't suggest it.

I may be able to help you out in any case. Let me know if you still have my e-mail.

Hi Greg,

If you think it should be moved to another category, go ahead. I wasn't specifically advertising for an offer (at least I didn't start it with that in mind) even though it sounds it. I began musing, wondering if anyone takes checks for anything online anymore. This is truly the age of plastic! :p

I believe members of the forum can contact one another via the private reply system here...I know I did get a message Sunday. :)

Another long night of too much caffeine and not enough sleep...

I know just how you feel. When I posted that last message I managed to forget the board had been upgraded and had the private message option... Considering the amount of time I spend here I think that says something about my own sleeping habits :)

If you're still in need of a hosting package, stop by my site and check out the Level1 Plan. If it suits your needs I'll give it to you at $75/year and you can pay by check.

Email me at brett@bmhost.com if interested.

It certainly was a good idea to move this thread, lol.

My current host has messed up way too many times. I just discovered yesterday that I have no longer have a control panel, and their system even says my domain isn't hosted there! (But my domain is still online...go figure!) This is like the 4th time something really screwy has happened, in less than a month.

Thanks for the offers and suggestions, everyone.

Hi DesertSage,

We have recently added some Budget plans. We have a plan that will suit your needs, and it would only cost you $55/yr. with no setup fees - if you prepay a full year (well, you prepay 11 months, and get the 12th for free).

Yes, we do accept checks and money orders.

Hey Robert, why did you post 3 times!??

I've seen people like Robert come and go........mark my words.......he'll get alot of new signups, then realize that it takes too much time, and that he is not making any money at $35/year, then he'll shut it down and screw everybody.......i've seen it a few times already.

I was not aware that we were not supposed to advertise! I was only trying to help.

As far as the last comment, I will not have to close because I am not running the servers. I just happen to have the hook ups unloke some jealous individuals. I am a reseller for a company that will remain nameless, and I happen to know that they are not going out of business any time soon! SO, if you want to pay more $$ for hosting go right ahead, meanwhile everyone else can focus on their Business and not their monthly invoices. :D

It doesn't matter who is running the servers.......you'll have to cram an awful lot of sites on a server or you will be losing money.....I lease servers from the exact same place, so i know how many sites you will need to put on the server in order to make money.......if your host closes because they aren't making money, then you close down as well.

Do the techs work for free?

And how is posting the EXACT same post 3 times in a row help anyone? Can you explain that?

Like I said, pay more if you want, but others are wising up!

As far as an explanation for posting 3 times, it's called a mistake!

I did not notice that there was 2 pages to the forum and did not see my original reply so I posted a couple of more times finally realizing that it posted 3 times! Don't be to quick to judge!! C'YA!

GregS
May 19th, 2001, 10:11 PM
I wasn't judging.....if you know how to read, you'll see i already asked you why you posted 3 times, you replied quote "I was not aware that we were not supposed to advertise! I was only trying to help. "

That is why i asked you why posting 3 times in a row helped anyone....so it seems your the one who is judging and assuming.

And yes, people are wising up, they understand the server costs about $1100/month (server, cp's, etc).....so you think you can figure out how many sites will be put on it? ...answer:too many.....Your charging less than $3/month......and don't tell me the server doesn't cost that....my servers are also at Alabanza.
