Well we always recommend http://www.000domains.com
They are 13.50 for a year...I know there are cheaper ones but 000domains has a great interface, and a pretty responsive support staff if you ever run into problems.

I posted this in another thread but it should probably go into a FAQ.

Price is the least of the issues with Registrars. You can get around $8 based on volume no matter who you deal with except NSI and Register.com. I look at value:
How reputable are they? ICANN accredition is only the first step.
Do they offer volume discounts?
Do they support me as a reseller?
Do they offer web hosting services or other lines of business that COMPETE with their resellers?

Do they have automation tools, control panels, notifications for renewals?
Do they post a phone number on their website for support?
(It's worse than annoying when you can't speak to someone to resolve your problem.)

Do they offer other products besides .com,.net & .org?
Do they spam or solicit my customers?
Do they play "Bait & Switch" games with "low-ball" prices?
(Many low priced registrars or their resellers get you at renewal time and make it hard for you to transfer out. Pay now or pay later. Other schemes include park your domain for very cheap but the minute you do anything with it you pay.)

If they're new or not big enough you need to worry about the protections they have on their systems to guard against downtime, corruption, hijacking, loss of data. What happens if they just go out of business?

Like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Top 5 Domain Name Registrars:
1. NSI - VeriSign
2. Register.com
3. Tucows
4. BulkRegister
5. MelbournIT

godaddy.com

Its fast yeasy - and most important thing u can do everything urself - its about $7USD/year.
Control panel is great , fast and not confusing - dns change, contact name change, managing all domain from same loggin and much more for 7$.
I dunno but i'm doing all my domains through them and it so far no problems at all (knock on the wood)

Just try to transfer your domain away from godaddy, you'll see how "helpful" they are....:bad:

I have resold for GoDaddy for over a year. They are the best.

Actually Godaddy's not too bad but their interface isn't exactly the most intuitive out there.

If you're reselling OpenSRS (Tucows) has the most user-friendly interface in my own experience - and they only charge you $10/year on most domain extensions. They also provide a API which GoDaddy doesn't (thru wildwestdomains that is).

I have been using http://www.e-domainsales.com. They charge $8.75 per year, which is the lowest I have found, plus they do not charge you to transfer the owner of the domain.

If you are registering lots of domains you should apply for an enom reseller account.

Godaddy.com all the way. Their site is a bit slow sometimes but besides that no complaints.

I've used godaddy for about 3 years now, I use to use Directnic.com. The major problem with godaddy is they have changed platforms so many times that if you have registered a lot of domains (over 200) for me in the last few years they are all under different accounts.

The only way to transfer all these domains is to contact their change department, which is a total mess. For one reason its a mess is because it takes probably 1 - 2 weeks before they issue a change. The second reason is you have to fax them (Not even a 800, 888 number) this change request form, then fax them your I.D. If you have more than 50 domains or so this is a major inconvenience.

Transfering a domain out of goddady is even more a problem. I tried to transfer my domain out of godaddy to EV1 servers and it took over 4 weeks for godaddy to finally release my domain name. Which was a major problem because that domain was hosting some of my nameservers that about 76 domains were using. Since it was in the transfer process I could not update the nameservers.. wow what a pain.

DirectNIC was pretty good, except their prices are still at $15/year. I've had really good success with EV1 domain registration. Its only $5.40/year with really easy contol panel and login areas.

It depends what you are looking for. You should combine the prices of all the features that you need and then see the ACTUAL price, not the advertised one.

The major trouble with Godaddy is they have changed platforms so many times that if you have registered a lot of domains for me in the last few years they are completely under different accounts.
