View Full Version : Help! Lost access to domain

I registered a domain name through enamereg.com
I changed my hosting provider and updated my nameservers over 4 days ago.
enamereg.com no longer answers their emails.
My domain name still does not resolve to my new hosting provider.
My new webhosting provider says they cannot transfer the name because enamereg.com has blocked this activity.
Is there a place I can go to complain/petition about access to my domain name?
Does anybody know how to find basic contact information (eg, address or phone number) of enamereg.com?
I appreciate any help you can offer.

whois check seems to show fake phone numbers for their domain details. I'd suspect the PO Box is fake too looking at it. cxxs.net shows much the same detail so that's not much help. However a whois on cxxs.net shows iistaff as their nameservers. whois on them shows a cxxs e-mail address as their admin contact with a more realistic address attached to it. So were it me, I'd scroll down to the bottom of this post and try the number listed there. In any event their contact details seem a little suspect, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope. Feel free to pass that info on to your new host and see if it helps them a bit.

I have found out that enamereg.com is actually run by mdit.net, a webhosting company that i signed up with but closed by account down due to unbelievably slow connection times to their servers.
Now I am being told that I cannot change my registrar because the domain name is new and i must wait 60 days before i can do this. Which to me sounds insane!
Who invented that stupid rule and why?

Aloha~
Yes, that rule is true. You have to wait 60 days before you are allowed to transfer your domain to another registrar.
Silly if you ask me, but I don't know who made the rule.

What a mess.
I cannot believe how some companies manage to stay in business.
In the future you may want to register your own domain instead of letting the host handle it for you. ALL hosts dont operate in this fashion though! Domain registration isnt a BIG part of our business, but since it goes hand in hand with hosting we do offer it for clients that need an option to be able to pay for domain reg./hosting fees, etc. on signup. For us, its a convenience for the client more than anything....I usually recommend people regsiter through http://000domains.com
13.50 year and a nice domain mgmt. interface.

I would agree with martie's reply, but this is of no help to you, now.
A possible option may be to register another domain name. This would depend the position of this domain name in the search engines, the nature of the web site - business vs personal, and other factors. It would most certainly make things easier, and faster, for you at the moment.
Good Luck.

This whole scenario is sad and true. I too "almost" fell victim to many similiar scenarios seing as I own more than 100 domain names both for myself and my clients. After network solutions lost it's monopoly there was a surge of what can only be called "bedroom registrars" wanting their cut of the pie. This happens everytime a monopoly is broken up. EVERYONE tries to grab market share.
I decided to spread myself out so I could test a few didfferent registrars. A few went out of business some had such terrible service I almost lost the domain names. Bottom line is IN LIFE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY... well usually sometimes you just get scammed.
I am a reseller now for tucows. I have found their service and support to be stable, and their api interface really works. The price isn't the lowest but refer to the previous paragraph.

Yes, what you are saying, is true. At least there are a few registrars that offer good service and reliability at fair prices....the hard part is knowing which ones they are! Anyway, our Company uses Dotster, and they are very good.....so there are 2 good ones for people to choose from.
The biggest problem with domain registrations from a hosting point of view, is the changing of Nameserver info. Many people get the DNS mixed up and it is not easy to fix, quickly, unless you have the username/password, and so on. In addition, if the domain owner does not keep the Contact info up to date, it is next to impossible to get things approved. I would like to see a system that simplifies the admin function of domain names for everyone!
