i know this is a bit late, but yeah.

fdcservers is in some major trouble at the moment, leaving i and many others in the dark with no connections. so, that answers that.

hostmania i've never tried before, sorry.

hostmania got into a big scandal with eservers.biz or something... involving taking money from people for servers... but not delivering the servers... which they claim was because of a mixup with their merchant account provider... lol

oh yeah... and fdc servers has gone to hell

lol... as in... none of their servers are up... no notice at all that over 500 servers were going to go down (i am guessing because they didn't want people to have a chance to backup their data to change providers... this way, they have the clients by the balls... so they can't change providers... they'll probably give a free month of service to retain clients if they're smart)... they did say they'd b back in four days... thats monday... (today for me)... so we'll have to see now won't we...?

skylab, you are being sarcastic, right? hehehe...

o wait... can't forget... multihomed... AND still $99/month for an unlimited 100Mbps connection... lol... o wait, my bad... un-metered, not unlimited...

but the thing is... if they aren't allowed to meter the connection, then how would they know to cap it? cuz they do in fact cap... heh... they had done it to me repeatedly... and i had it confirmed from a few other former clients today... heh

oh yes, of course that was sarcasm. argh. i mean, IF they can pull it off great, but, i highly doubt their business model could stay the same. meaning, they'll have to change prices drastically.

it's a disaster. i do not resell or host anyone, but, my personal sites are important to me and all that is going on to 3 days downtime. i've gotten my other server up, but, still, dns and so forth and i've had a week straight downtime. sad.

A little late as well ... but avoid hostmania.net (transoptics.com) at all costs. I got a dedicated machine off them this past summer, and it was a complete mess. The whole experience was a disastor. I got the box weeks late, it came with the wrong OS installed, they didn't reinstall the OS after the last customer cancelled it, and so on and so on. So yeah, stay away from hostmania.net, and stay away from any business operated by Chavvon Smith.

Good luck!
