View Full Version : I need a new dedicated server host

This is absolutely the most ridiculous thing that could happen...

1. The dedicated server host attempts to install a second hard drive on my dedicated server around 10:00-11:00 PM...

The server goes down...
They DO NOT notify the dedicated me, server owner...

2. The server owner (me) discovers the server down at 3:00 AM and e-mails support...
No response...

I call them on the phone
They 'say' the power supply in the server went out...
Can't get a power supply until sometime tomorrow!!!

My host? Powersurge Technologies (also known as Fastservers.net)

I had moved to Powersurge due to a similar problem with my last host.

I need a new dedicated server host FAST (with WHM/cpanel)... suggestions please.

Here is the reply from my host after I discovered the server down and called them on the phone after no responce to my 'emergency' e-mail help request:

LJ203 has responded to your help desk request.
Time: 13-9-2002-03:05AM

: I've doube checked to be sure that we don't have any more back up power supplies, but there aren't any. We won't be able to replace it until morning. If you want to talk to a manager, there will be one here at 8:00 AM US Central time.

Larry

i'm super happy with www.serverrack.net . they're not a large company, which in my case i prefer. i get fanatical personal support at every level, the network is extremely stable and fast (they're using savvis/uunet and sprint bandwidth using bgp4). they are located in virginia, i in austria and i get great speed and response from them

but yeah, almost 2 years experience in dealing with them and they're well worth the slightly higher price in exchange for the fanatical support and service i get from them.

Hey Shailesh,

Never heard about you & your company.

You sit inside VSNL india Intranet (that's what we should call to anything behind VSNL gateway).

Why would anyone come to colo to you. This ia US based customer, and you seem to be sleeping during his day time...hehehe

Better focus Indian customers there.

hahaha

You might have a look at GigabitDC.COM. They have a managed dedicated servers (http://gigabitdc.com/dedicated/) service which is pretty popular.

There is a good dedicated offeres currently given by such company as serverpoint.com. I suppose you know who they are. They are having a "big sale" with significantly reduced prices.

Also see the dedicated offers by such company as a2hosting.com - good average stable company with normal human support.

Just visit gigabitdc.com. They provide managed dedicated server (http://gigabitdc.com/dedicated/) with DDOS mitigation.

I think such problems would be avoided, if you use serverpoint.com as your provider. The company is really stable by uptime and professional by support. Th more so because the prices for dedicated servers are currently reduced within a big sale promo.

It is always recommended to get things cleared up before signing up for a certain package. One should try and do some research inorder to avoid such issues.
Try and speak to them about this issue, if they agree that such problems would not be repeated once again, then continue with them. Else, look for another another provider. Let them know your requirements and sign-up for a suitable plan .

PS: Don't forget to get your data backed up, before switching hosts.

I suggest GigabitDC.COM for dedicated web hosting (http://gigabitdc.com) and affable representatives.

UUNET provided Microsoft with a dedicated TCP/IP network that would allow MSN
... FTP (File Transport Protocol) hosting, dedicated servers that companies
could ... which meant the company would need to increase its capacity tenfold
