New Online Store

I have a friend asking for some help. Now I have some background in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JS. Anyway I have no experience in what she is trying to do. She wants to setup an online store of fantasy type gifts (dragons and such). So there are a few things I would like to know.

1) What is all needed to set up an online store?
2) Is there any solutions out there that are...
a. Fully (and easily) customizable.
b. Includes everything that is needed.
c. Not a lot of overhead.
d. Easily manageable.

Well you guys have helped me a lot in the past. I cant wait to see what you guys might have for me in these regards. Hope this isnt asking to much. Like I said I have no experience in these areas. Any help is greatly appreciated.

To set up an online store, you need two things:

1. A storefront - this could be your own website or one setup by your shopping cart provider.

2. a shopping cart provider - These are people that host your products, have payment and shipping gateways available, and have security for your customers information.

There are solutions that have all of those features. I would suggest the same people I use for my own store, www.QuickCart.com.

It is possible to put an Online store with technologies you had specified. The main is waht are the features you want to embed in the site you want to have on Online store. I suggest you to do some designing as how you want the site to look.The layout design is very important.
