Online backup is great for keeping your files safe, however for hard drive upgrades I would prefer to use external media.. Take an image with acronis and write the image onto the new drive, simple as that.
I wouldn't waste time with online backup, it will take you months to upload your hard drive, do you want to spend a month uploading all your files before you swap hard drive or do you want to do it this evening?

Hi there,
Apologies to be rude, but I don't agree with you. Online backup gets rid of all the hassle and risk of employing an on-site solution. Yes you are correct, it may take a long time to upload the data the first time but with a standard incremental backup thereafter it would only take a fraction of the time to compose a complete and up to date replication of your information.
In short, off-site or online backup is a genuine alternative to external hard drives and tape systems and gives complete peace of mind by erradicating the risk or fire, theft, fault hardware etc.
My thoughts anyway, feel free to discuss further though, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this.

The online backup is really important to get a new copy of the information and data that are corrected due to serious problems like hard drive failure, virus, defect, theft or many more.Availing the online backup storage is the best solution, as it excretes the requirements of high-priced hard drives and quite other perceptible backup results. The online backup workout is carried out at the back-end of the computer during standby or sleep mode. Backing up data will no way interrupt or affect your standard use.

Decide what you are looking for. There are many aspects to a solution of online backup and each one costs money. Among these aspects, the amount of data you want online backup, the backup frequency, access to online data backup anywhere, not only from the PC and so on. Line backup solutions come in two versions, regular backups and real-time reservation. Based on the criticality of data, you can choose the option that suits you.

If you're replacing your hard drive I wouldn't really recommend online backup for this use, reason being you will spend a VERY long time uploading your files, it will take far to long. I think you're better of getting clonezilla or acronis and making an image backup of your hard drive and cloning all your data onto the new drive.

In most cases, the larger companies are going to be able to afford better support. If you can find it, phone support is always preferred. Every company will provide support, just not all the same types.

There are quite a few free online backup services.
Skydrive offers up to 7GB storage but it is not encypted so it may be of use for photos or non private documents.
Dropbox is another free backup service which is popular.
