Is it possible to send an automatic reply to a specific list of email addresses from the server rather than my desktop? I want to send an immediate reply to clients only.
Thanks for the help.

It all depends on what exactly you mean by wanting an "automatic reply" and other factors.
Many mail servers will support autoresponders that will send a stored message whenever any incoming EMails are received. It would be unusual for any such service to watch for incoming messages from a specific group of EMail addresses and respond automatically. Its beyond my programming experience, but I'm sure it would be possible to write such a program if depending on the server environment. If your mail server supports an autoresponder, of course, the easiest solution would be to set up an EMail address solely for this purpose so that it wouldn't interact with your other EMail address(es).
If you could explain a little more about what you'd like, I'll try to help. Good luck!

I agree. That's the most practical solution I see. Yes, you could alternatively do some coding on the server to do it, but I would not bother the trouble unless you really, really cant use the suggestion above, or somehow use a desktop instead.
Like rainborick said, if you could explain some more, maybe we could help some more!

If your mail server supports both autoresponders and aliases you can setup an alias for a POP3 and put an autoresponder on it.
For example: Suppose your have Sales@yourdomain.com as a POP3. You can make an alias joe@yourdomain.com on that POP3 then make an autoresponder "joe". That way when someone emails joe@yourdomain.com they get the auto message and the email itself is stored in the POP3.
