You should ask your web host about Off-site backup server hosting solutions. I am sure they will provide appropriate assistance because these days many web hosting providers offering data backup services. And if your web host is not able to provide data backup services you can sign-up Backup Server Hosting Plan with another reputable web hosting company.
We also offer fully managed off-site backup server hosting solution which synchronizes files and directories through Rsync technology.

The most common way to backup email data is by exporting important messages into files, which can then be backed up. There are many ways to backup data on your computer - the least effective of which (for obvious reasons) is having the only backup location on your actual hard drive. Instead, use external hardware such as a disk, CD, zip drive, or memory stick.

ZenOK Online Backup does it, I used it and it worked great you just select your important files, activate the Online Backup and you´re all set the program will continuously update any data that has changed since the last backup took place. This is done in the background.

A number of companies provide online backup services for subscribers whose computers are connected to the Internet. Online backups can provide a convenient solution in multi-user systems.

Online backup is great, but only when you don't have that much data to backup, otherwise you'll come to work in the morning and it will still be backing up!

Look for Online Backup Solution with Unlimited file archiving features. So that you can restore any version of a backup file based on timestamp.

Your webhost probably does a regular backup (mine does a daily backup), plus as an extra precaution, you can go to your control panel and create a backup (usually a compress file) that you can then download and store on a backup harddrive. I try to do this once a month, but I don't always remember.
The key though is to do it after any major website update, and to make sure your webhost does some kind of backing up.

@asc2 - check with your host as many cPanel hosts have a backup option built in, and others will allow you to use another service to backup the data as well.
If it's a critical site, then you will want to also backup the data independently of the hosting provider in case they have a failure and you need to start hosting elsewhere post-haste.

@asc2, The online backup service you are asking about is also known as the offsite backup plans, which offers continuous data protection CDP solution. Basically, the backups done using the R1soft's CDP solution are stored on the redundant offsite servers, which you can restore anytime. Since, the offsite servers are used to simply keep the backups of the data they are completely safe. There are various advantages of using the offsite backup plans. You can easily schedule multiple backup tasks and restore specific files and folders from your backed up data. The backups that are performed are completely encrypted hence all the data is backed up safely.

I wrote a blog article on this last week. Backing up by any means is a necessary routine. Most hosting companies offer some sort of backup package and I recommend spending the extra money. If you don't want to use your host then find something and do it with regularity. Don't think that the server backup copy will work all the time. Disasters happen and you could lose your data. Just do it.
