What hosts do all of you people use for yourselves? I started with angelfire a long time ago, proving that the free ones usually do suck and money doesn't outweigh what you get. I tried Geocities to see if they aren't all the same. I couldn't even edit it with FrontPage. It had a weird editor on the site already. Right now I'm using www.OneDollarHosting.com and it works fine, for a buck a month. Not bad. What do you think?

Welcome to the webhostdir forums.I think you will find lots of useful info here.
Answering your question though....what hosts do we use? Some of us are in the hosting business so we use our own companies:D
Speaking for me only ;)
Our servers are from Alabanza

I admit to having a couple of geocities sites-I use them as a testing ground for new sites before I register the domain-their WYSIWYG site editor is a piece of crapola-it doesn't allow you to copy and paste, of all things. I'm sure they have some valid reason for excluding that rather basic bit of functionality, but it escapes me. They do have a variety of other options for uploading, including FTP, though.

One of my two favorite perks that come from working for a web hosting provider is free web hosting. Not on the production servers with the paying customers, but on one of the web servers that are earmarked for the use of friends and employees.

Isn't that one of the most common reasons why we go into web hosting in the first place?

We are in the Onvoy facility in St Paul, MN. Actually I just got back from coming there and that facility is probably the best one you can be in. I was told that they are adding an OC12 connection very soon (on top of 2 OC3's, 5 DS3's and OC48 Self heal sonnet ring.) and Onvoy is a billion dollar company. The room where our servers are at, isn't filled up, not too many companies in it. I was also told that there is another room where it is off limits because one of the huge banks are in there with very important information. Looked just like one of the top of line facilities you see at Verio.
