can someone help?
I use neomail right now (webbased email) but it is terrible (my email is constantly messed up) so i have to get a real email client. So far i have tried calypso, eudora, outlook, and the Bat........but i don`t like any of those!
Does anyone know of a very simple primitive looking email software i can use. Calypso has so much junk and is over filled with things i will never need and it`s not even close to as neat and organized as neomail. i guess basically, i`m screwed.

I really like OutLook Express (the free version with Internet Explorer)
I use it to check about 8 POP accounts every few minutes, it lets me know when email arrives by sound, and all the email goes straight into subfolders and subfolders of subfolders to organize it all nicely.
It also has filters and many options, but you don't need to deal with any of them if you don't want to....it's very easy to set up many accounts.

oh yeh, i was going to use outlook but then i heard a bunch of bad stuff about it. Maybe i should try it anyway. But i also just downloaded the latest version of eudora and that might be good too i guess. But i really really like how neomail looked and how it was set-up. Oh well.
Here`s a stewpid question. If i don`t use web-based email anymore (and i started using outlook instead) will i still be able to check my emails when i`m away from home on anyone`s computer as long as its got internet access? Or do i have to have web-based email in order to be able to do that?

I like eudora. See if you can get a free and non-sponsored copy. If you have to pay for registration it's still worth it.

Are you talking about OutLook or OutLook Express? They are very different from each other.
Yes, you can get your email from anyone else's computer, but you will need to configure your accounts in it first, configuring an account in OutLook Express takes about 1 minute.

I`ll try give Eudora a try then. And i thought outlook and outlook express were the smame thing...whoops. I just checked and i have outlook express installed in my computer. So outlook express is the good one, right?
And can i confiqure my email if i use Eudora as welll so that i can check my email anywhere, at anytime on anyone`s computer? I always though you had to have webbased email to do that. I`m gonna check out outlook express again. Thankx...:)

Outlook express is the simpler form of Outlook. Either will do the job. It looks like its not the functions of your product that is the problem - it is the look and feel / ease of use.
You can always use Yahoo etc. as an email client. You can set it to retrieve email under your existing domain from your host email server and you can set the reply-to to be your offical domain so no-one will know that you are using Yahoo. Also you can access this email wherever you are and not just from your own desktop.
Can't get much simpler. :)

Yes, OutLook Express is MUCH easier to use and handles many POP accounts much better and is also easier to set up.

WebBased email is easier if you want to check your email from out of your home, but you can also configure someone elses email client on their computer to check your email.
We offer both WebBased and normal POP accounts with our hosting, so when you are home, you check it with Outlook, etc, and when you are on the road you log into your WebBased account to grab the same email......I think you could get a hotmail account, then forward it to your POP account, and when your on the road log into the hotmail.

oh i see. I have normal pop emails too and would like to use web-based email when i`m on the road, but my web-based email is terrible. Sometimes i`m unable to receive any emails and some customers have even emailed me asking why i never responded to their emails. I never even knew they emailed me cause i never got their emails. So that`s why i`m now paranoid about using web-based email. I don`t think it`s reliable. I even emailed myself and sometimes i never get the email! It`s insane. I don`t want to loose customers just because my web-based email is a peice of un-reliable crap.
So i`ll just use outlook express then. And since it`s installed on every computer by default, that means i can check my email anywhere without having to use web-based, right? Now i just have to fiqure out the name of my outgoing/incoming server (so that i can setup my emails).......how do i know what that is? Don`t laugh, i really don`t know. :(

Yes, if you go somewhere, and they have OutLook Express on their computer, you can very easily add your account to it and check your email, it will even let you leave a copy of the email on the server if you want in case you want to download it again when you get home. If the place where you go doesn't have Outlook Express, you can still add your account to whatever they have, but you will probably need to read a manual first to know how to use their software.
Hmm...there are 3 main configurations to grab your email, not sure which one you will need:
On our servers, you just put your domain:
POP3: yourdomain.com
SMTP: yourdomain.com
Some servers use this:
POP3: pop.yourdomain.com
SMTP: smtp.yourdomain.com
Some use this:
POP3: mail.yourdomain.com
SMTP: mail.yourdomain.com
If it is with your ISP, and not a hosting company with your domain, then it will be one of the above, but with the ISP domain, such as:
POP3: mail.aol.com
SMTP: mail.aol.com

You may also want to consider installing another web based e-mail system..... if your host supports IMAP, you might want to check out http://www.squirrelmail.org/ although there are many others....

I believe Eudora is the _only_ decent mail client. It does everything I would ever want a mail client to do and supports virtually everything. Not to mention, it's not widely vulnerable to all the virii that Outlook and OE are. Stay away from M$ Email clients unless you have one darn good virus scanner w/ updates every day.
