I decided to create a thread where webmasters will be able to discuss advantages and disadvantages of using cloud VPS and Ordinary VPS hosting services.
Any inputs guys?

I believe that it mainly depends on the host you are going to deal with..
Using cloud VPS hosting services you will have 100% network uptime - your web sites will be always up and accessible to your visitors.

A standard VPS is usually served from 1 particular server. If that server faces hardware failure, it effects all the containers on that node.
All Clouds aren't built alike, many boast different features. One common misconception is Cloud hosting will guarantee 100% uptime, this is not true. Most Cloud providers have systems setup to ensure automatic failover. This means, if one server in the Cloud goes haywire the data is brought back online by another available node. While this process is 'automatic' (As in it doesn't typically require human intervention) it doesn't always mean your data will be available instantly without downtime. Especially in the case of SAN issues (vps.net), lot of downtime and headache. But as I mentioned, Cloud providers all utilize different technologies some of which perform differently to different situations.
Even Amazon's famous Cloud suffered major issues somewhat recently, which affected a lot of very large sites.
Though, the cloud is certainly much more reliable than any standard single server configuration. But the point is that like anything else man made, things can/do fail or happen that could make your site unavailable, even if temporarily, but unavailable none-the-less. :good:

I think that in terms of limitations, Cloud Hosting Servers offer scalability but only to a certain extent while in case of dedicated servers, you can have a custom configuration based upon your requirements.

Virtual instances hosted on a Cloud infrastructure feature increased scalability. There might be many other advantages on the cloud, such high availability for example.

To meet your demands, the OP, use hosting services which aspnix provides.
Reliability and stability are their strong points and their support is excellent and fast. And they are not pricey.

The Priice range difference between normal VPS and cloud VPS solutions is very big.
Cloud VPS costs much more than normal one.
But in terms of features and performance it's a good option. And those who are willing to work with new technology should opt Cloud VPS.

Cloud VPS is surely a better solution compared to ordinary VPS. Cloud server is setup on a cluster of servers whereas ordinay VPS is setup on a single Dedicated server. So Cloud VPS offers High Availability and Fault Tolerance which makes it more reliable compared to ordinary VPS. Cloud VPS's are scalable as we can add more servers to the cluster whereas ordinary VPS can't be scaled up as the main server resources can't be increased.

Cloud computing has reduced very much server loads used for dedicated purpose, Now at the peak time of your products seasons, can use cloud hosting in cheap rates.

Definitely a cloud VPS is better compared to an ordinary VPS. Cloud offer you with 100% uptime as well as scalability. With scalability feature you can upgrade your resources like RAM, CPU, bandwidth and space individually when ever you require them. This on the other hand is not possible with an ordinary VPS.

Cloud hosting is nothing but which is cluster of sever like that one server or one website..this is useful because it makes it easier for people to scale their account up or down as they need to.
when in case of dedicated servers, you can have a custom configuration based upon your requirements.

I see at least 4 advantages:
1) PRICE: A Cloud Server is pay per use, which means you can use it 100% of the month and therefore pay for a full monthly fee, or you can use it just for a few hours and pay a lower fee. It is post-paid, because usage needs to be calculated before it is charged to you. An Ordinary VPS is pre-paid for a full month or year, depending on providers. You pay regardless of your use.
2) RELIABILITY: A Cloud Server is not dependent on a single physical host, it may move to another physical host in case the initial one goes down, which gives you additional reliability. An Ordinary VPS is usually attached to a single physical host
3) CONTROL: You can usually control a Cloud Server (create, delete, reboot, resize) via a web control panel and operate it according to your needs. Often you can also control it via an API (like it is the case for Amazon EC2 aws.amazon.com or Lunacloud's Cloud Server www.lunacloud.com). An Ordinary VPS is, at most, controllable via a web control panel, not through an API. And you can't resize it (RAM, CPU, DISK) according to your needs.
4) FLEXIBILITY: Creating, deleting or resizing server resources, anytime (every hour if needed) gives you a much higher flexibility on a Cloud Server, that you can't find with any Ordinary VPS.
"Cloud Computing" is a concept that uses virtualization as one of the underlying technologies, but the most important aspect is the "pay only for what you use and use only what you need". An Ordinary VPS is just a slice of a bigger physical host, but paid under a fixed contract just like a dedicated server.

Cloud VPS is nothing, but a cluster of servers that to the end user just looks like 1 server or 1 website. This is useful because it makes it easier for people to scale their account up or down as they need to.
In addition, many backup services use cloud setups, because it's simpler for the customer to just log in and see all their backup information in 1 folder, even though physically the data might be spread over 2,3 or 4 servers, maybe more. With Cloud VPS; web host can manage servers through centralized management system called as a VICenter. It helps to increase host servers and storage as per the future requirements and growth.
With normal VPS you cannot experience all these kind of flexibility. That's it.

VPS is where your server is Virtual instead of physical server. Here are some advantages of using VPS:
- Cheaper than dedicated server
- You can adjust your resources using control panel and root access
- Unlike Shared hosting, it provides dedicated resources.
In Cloud Hosting, you manage your server/s via Internet and these are some of the benefits of using it:
- High Availability
- Flexibility
- Improve accessibility
- While others, are offering pay as you go.
The benefits of using this are just the benefits of VPS and Cloud Hosting.
