I am selling a software on the internet. Because I am not shipping anything to the customers
(they are downloading the full version from the website after they payed for it)
I don't have signature on the file. And I had customers who charged me back after 6 month using the software and
my merchant accounts (paypal, 2checkout) gave them back the money because they did not have signature on the file and
me eather.

I found a new service a few days ago ?http://www.chargebackbureau.org and
I sign up right away because I found this website very useful, and it is only $6 onetime fee.
I reported all my chargeback customers to Chargeback Bureau.
One think I like about this service that Chargeback Bureau are sending emails to all newly reported persons and
informing them about that that they can have problems in the future when they are shopping on the internet.
Some companies might not selling them anything because they are reported in the Chargeback Bureau like bad customers.

After I signed up I sent them an email because I had some questions about the service and
one of my question was regarding about the false charge back report.
They wrote me back that they have a right to ask the prove of chargeback if
somebody filed a complane about false chargeback report.

Few of my chargeback customers already contacted me and they are willing to resolve the problem and I might get back my money.
After I got my money back I can take them out from Chargeback Bureau. Because only who reported them can take them out .
Which I think is a very good service.

As Far as I know Credit Bureau is working a same way.

I will let you guys know If I get any of my money back.

Anybody else has any information about Chargeback Bureau?

Im not familiar with the co.myself.
I think it would be wise for you to contact paypal, 2checkout regarding these issues.

In the USA digital signatures are as binding as handwritten signatures nowdays.

I suggest you put up a place where they must enter their name and put above it in something very visible "Entering your binding digital signature here." or something like that.

Talk to an attorney if you have questions.. :)

Digital signatures are binding, but credit card agencies still issue the chargebacks because there is no written signature according to the terms of their use, which both vendors and customers agree to.

I have heard good things from chargeback bureau but not have used them yet.

One way to prevent chargeback is to have the customer sign a contract (simple) or credit card authorization form. If you ship a product you generally are more protected because you can show they received the goods.

Does anyone have a good example of a contract they use. I think something like this would be helpful. Also, the usual process used to obtain this document from your customers without causing them to look somewhere else.

The best way to avoid chargebacks is to avoid fraudulent credit cards in the first place. Maxmind is a great service for this.

After that, you can't do much about chargebacks except try to keep your customers happy.

Honest customers don't do chargebacks much because it can lock their card and changing your credit card number is a big pain for the customer.

We have our own server monitoring software which is protected by license key.

If they key aint there then the software dont work.

Its coded in .net and i really think you should try it.

As previous posts suggested we also use maxmind. This may not protect the software but it will protect you from fraudulent buyers.

Haven't heard of that website. I would highly recommend getting your customers to sign a credit card authorization form, that will be the only way to protect yourself as you will lose in a charge back case.
