ok, I understand the reason behind ethics and wanting to get a standard and all, but what exactly are we hoping to do, just create a standard, or just being another little symbol someone gets to put on their website, or are we hoping that this will create a standard for all hosts.

Phoenix is the one with a clear vision. But basically the intention is to create an industry standard by which all quality hosts will abide. Members will then be accredited in the same way as other professional bodies.
If you check out a couple of Phoenix earlierthreads you'll get a much clearer understanding of our overall goals.

Perhaps putting together a mission statement that reflects our goals would help us gain our focus.
Our current mission as the planning committee for a proposed trade organization is:
To develop a set of ethical, technical, and professional standards for the web hosting industry. To plan a grass-roots organization dedicated to upholding and enforcing those standards in order to strengthen the industry, assist customers in making informed decisions about their web hosting and reporting violations of our standards. To elect an initial executive board who will found the organization.
How's that sound?

Youre very good at this, I think youve got a dark and sinister past.......maybe in politics!
Seriously though, it reads very well. Youve definately got my "vote"

You wound me, good sir. Ethics and politics are mutually exclusive.

And I didn't even have to promise you '40 acres and a mule' to get it.
