HI Joe,
If you are just starting out you shouldnt require a dedicated server!
A shared hosting provider should be able to meet your needs.:D

As a beginner I would *seriously* consider a virtual hosting solution. Dedicated servers are an interesting breed of animal and often have minds of their own. You'll have a greater piece of mind having the box your site is on looked after by someone who knows what they're doing. It's also a far cheaper solution that to be locked into a contract paying hundreds of dollars a month. If your website fails then at least with a shared hosting account you won't lose too much.

As you grow your site, and gain more experience you can then look at a full server of your own.

As a newbie to hosting I would suggest going with the virtual account. This is a lot cheaper and you probably will not have a need for the large space and bandwidth in the near future! Hope that helps.

Yes I agree with you all guys. To start with a virtual hosting is an good idea. That will give you fair idea of the space, bandwitdh you will need. And you can any time upgrade to a dedicated server any web hosting company would love to do it :)

Definately start out with a "Virtual" hosting plan.

You will be able to get the feel for hosting without a huge burden or price tag. The biggest advantage to a dedicated server is that you are not having to share your server with anyone. But that wouldn't justify the expense in the beginning. If you find a good company you won't even know that you are "sharing" with anyone anyway.
There are plans out there that are good for getting your feet wet. I imagine most hosting companies also allow for easy upgrading.
I would recommend that you also look for a hosting company who is well established and provides you with telephone technical support, as well as, email support and/or online forum. When you are learning it is always a great benefit to be able to talk to someone "live" instead of email and forums as sometimes things get misunderstood and it could take a bit to finally get the answer you are looking for.

Do some research before settling it will be well worth the time.

Best of luck with your web site.
