Any recommendations for billing software? Personal experience of the service would also be helpful too.

Thanks

Some hosting controllers have automated billing.

Hosting Controller 2002
Ensim
H-Spear

If you are looking for a 3rd party billing solution take a look at http://www.perlbill.com/

We use the billing manager for Hosting Controller and like it very much, I don?t know about the other 2.

Thanks for all the help. I've also read about Sphera and plesk as control pannel solutions. Do they also offer a billing interfaces for you to manage your clients accounts?

The only problem is that it works from their servers so if they crash you crash.

Depending on your requirements you might look at http://www.modernbill.com as well. Not the cheapest one around but a very solid piece of work. Good support too. We've been testing it on and off for a while and are pretty happy with the results. Enough so it should become out main billing system before long.

Thanks, is there a system out there that supports both unix and windows platforms? Although I am launching with a basic unix solution i want to expand further down the road into windows solutions. I don't want to have to run two seperate billing solutions

PHP manager was out yesterday. And for those who use it your support system was down and possibly billing as well.

It's installed on your server by it does not function on it's own. It's not a stand alone program, so when they do "maintainace" or whatever it was the system becomes unavailable. There was a large thread about it yesterday at WHT.

It's not a bad system, I just think it should be stand alone, so whatever happens with thier server, doesn't affect your business, that or have a constant back up system going.

Well its looking like I'm going to get pushed down a set route with my billing software. My choice of control panel is going to limit my options. I think H-sphere is best suited to my business model and they only support the following providers right now.

AuthorizeNet (ADC Relay)
AuthorizeNet (SIM Protocol)
Bibit (version 2.09 and higher)
CyberCash
Echo
Ematic
ePDQ (version 2.09 and higher)
IonGate (version 2.3 RC4 and higher)
Link Point
Paradata
PayAndShop (version 2.09 and higher)
PayReady (version 2.1 and higher)
Payflow Pro
Payflow Pro with SSL Support (version 2.3 and higher)
Plug'n Pay (version 2.3 RC4 and higher)
PSiGate (version 2.1 and higher)
SecurePay (version 2.09.5 and higher)
Skipjack (version 2.3 RC4 and higher)
Surepay (version 2.3 RC3 and higher)

Most of these dont support none US business billing. Which really limits my options even further.

Hi there,
If you are really going to be doing billing you need a real program that is designed only for that purpose. Because customers will question their billing and you want a professional application. Also the application will be deductible from taxes for a business.

PhpCoin is a free script that is another helpful program for those new to the reseller business. It offers the basic billing options. Conversely, WHMCS offers many features including fraud protection, automatic suspension and built in support tickets which are extremely important in the billing department. Also, WHMCS is easy to use, affordable and easy to setup. That way, it’s easy for both reseller beginners as well as experienced users.
