Can someone please help me with this problem I'm having?
First of all this is just "experimental" this wont be a production server it's just for my own kicks and giggles.
Ok here is what I have, I have a system running windows 2000 Advanced server I have IIS 5.0 installed and working and also have Ensim Control Panel installed and working. I can access the server by www.sitename.com and all works fine, problem is I can only access it locally. If I was running an intranet I'd be the shit, but that's not the case, I want to access the server from the internet, Now here is were complications come into play, I only have one static IP (sprint wont give me anymore then one) but that shouldn't be a problem because I can use another location for the secondary Name server. anyway I have my domain pointed to NS1.myserver.com and NS2.myotherserver.com and I've registered my nameserver with my registrar (ns2 backups to a dedicated server at rackshack, NS1 points to my server at home) if I do a traceroute the query comes back as the domain resolves to 192.168.x.x which is unaccessible from the internet.
(at least that is what the query say's) the ip is the Lan ip for the server. Here is my question when I setup DNS in IIS 5.0 and I create a new zone do I put the ip of the machine or the static IP I have from sprint or the DNS server IP's for sprint? I actually had this working once for a few minutes then I changed some settings and have never got it back to work other then over the LAN. I have 8 pc's on a LAN at home that can all access the website perfectly they all connect through a router and I've actually set the web-server ip up in the router as DMZ to open up all ports. Everytime someone tries to access the site from the internet they get a page cannot be displayed? Can anybody give me some insight as to what I am doing wrong?
