Ok, let say I have a site being hosting by someone else but want it backed up on someone elses server.

Now on the nameserver how would this work?
ns1.yourname.com
ns2.yourname.com
ns1.theirname.com
ns2.theirname.com

??? I was planning on basically partnering up with another hosting company where we will basically back each other up on as far our support pages incase our lines went down.

If you can answer my question I would be greatful.

Thanks

I think the easiest way would be to just host an extra domain with them eg: www.yourdomainsupport.com or www.yourdomainnews.com or something similar. Mention it clearly in your signup information and send a notice to current customers.

That would prevent the need to try and juggle nameservers, and hope when the initial site goes down they are automatically forwarded to the 'off-network' site. Some the KISS theory is the best.

I would go with the www.support.com as well. One potential problem with the multiple nameservers is that mail might be directed to one server then to another. Now during a total failure it is okay but it there is just a hiccup in the line and mail is diverted for a few minutes to the other server you have to make sure you realize its there and retreive it somehow.
