Can anyone tell me how much it costs to register domain names wholesale. Say using a service like tucows. I've been told that the cost price for registration is around $15 per year, is that about right? I want to offer domain registration as part of my new hosting service and I'm working on pricing up the various options.

It depends but you can get them for as long as $8.00 to $12.00. Look at godaddy.com and enom for the lowest (but you need to move volume) and doster.com for the $12.00 (flat fee).

Thanks. Do you know how many you have to sell to start getting monthly discounts?

I personally don't use them (I use dotster--love them) but I believe it comes down to placing a lot of money with them up front. The more money you give to them to apply to future registrations the less it costs. There are also resellers out there who will resell the ability to registrer domain names. And they have already bought into the the program with a lot of money and offer some lower prices if you can't afford the big upfront fees.

I've heard enom have pretty good reseller deals but I'm not a reseller. I register mine at Namecheap (who are eNom resellers) for $8.88 ... pretty good so far.

May want to add http://www.onlinenic.com to the list because I don't think the previous ones are the cheapest.

Their control panel has quite a few options but I am unsure about how well their domain program works for selling domains although they do offer a program to download with reseller capability I believe.

I have been using: http://www.e-domainsales.com . They charge as low as $7.00 I beleive for bulk registrations, and only $8.75 per year regular price. Plus they don't have any hidden transfer costs when you want to transfer owners.

if you are really into selling domains, you may want to register at http://www.icann.org last time i checked with them, you may want to pay U.S.$250.00 one time and from then on your wholesale price will be U.S.$5.00 per domain/year, i don't know this time they might changed their pricing or lower it a little bit for i see lots of non-registered icann.org selling 5 bucks per domain.

I think you can get about $4 per domain wholesale price
