It's interesting...Overture gets a couple of search engines, sounds like they might want to challenge Google. And if you think about Yahoo's dropping Google you kind of see three major players emerging: Overture, Google & Yahoo. There were rumours of Microsoft buying FAST so you have to wonder if the lower search engines will merge or be bought out.

Does Yahoo own Overture?
I had heard they bought them out somewhere but am not sure if it was true or not.

Yahoo bought Inktomi not Overture.
Yahoo does use Overture for it PPC listings. This gets a little complicated in that Overture listings are influenced by Inktomi and all Overture partners actually pay fees to Inktomi.
Having this said, it seems like the Inktomi purchase was strategic for Yahoo in reducing PPC overhead not really a decision based on public search results. Rumor still has it that Yahoo will keep Google as their primary pubic search.
