Please excuse me if this is a stupid question or if i came to the wrong place to get this question aswered. I also posted in another section...if I can get it answered in one, I`ll delete the other.

When I open a .cmp promt and type in: ping google.com, it shows an IP adress of 216. 239.51.100 . If I type in google.com in the browsser adress bar I get google, but if I type in 216. 239.51.100 I get something else. Why does this happen??
What is at the server to dirrect me to the main page when I surf there but my .cmd promt pings a diffrent page?

Thanks for taking a look.

I don't get the same problem here, I see google if I paste in the ip address from 'ping google.com'.

I get a different ip address if I try 'ping www.google.com', it seems that google.com is not pointing to the default web pages, it may redirect depending on context so try adding http:// before the ip and see it that's different.

Rukee I have also checked it and ping to the google.com and get 216. 239.51.100 IP Address and tried to open the website with this IP, the same google.com opened. I think there is some other reason that some other website opened when you tried to open with this IP 216. 239.51.100.

I'd like to tell you that if you have done this checking from some internet cafe then due to some malious software it may happend because sometimes they redirect to someother websites. These softwares installed by some websites which automatically configure the pc while installing the sofware or surfing the net.
