Running a website requires a web host provider. Websites are, in a sense, like pieces of virtual real estate. In order to set one up, you need a place, an address and a platform on which to build the site. Web hosting providers are like the real estate agents of the online environment.
Typically, web space is rented, either on a yearly, quarterly or monthly basis. The server used is a powerful computer that runs on specialized high-speed connections. They also have a high degree of firewall protection in place. Subscriber packages include website storage on the host server, email services, domain registration and auto-responders. Some packages also offer shopping cart software and access to add-on software applications that can be run on your website of custom drapes (http://www.dreacustomdesigns.com/why-custom-drapes) & custom curtains (http://www.dreacustomdesigns.com/drapes-curtains).

Web Hosting is basically a service which allows you to have an online presence through a website. You can register a domain which suits your business or personal needs and select a hosting plan to host it. Starting with a Basic package would be fine for you as you can upgrade it later.

Whether or not you have a managed hosting service depends for what reason you require it.
If you are expecting your site to be visited thousands of times every hour then a managed service would probably be the best.
If not then you are better sticking to a regular web host in order to save a lot of money.
They work by giving the website its own dedicated web space. This makes download speeds etc much faster.

First you have to select a domain name related to your business.
Register domain name at web hosting provider and they allow you to make your website accessible via the World Wide Web.

Well, large server farms tend to use some of the latest ideas to share loads. Everything from distributed storage to virtual machines and host headers share resources. Basically almost any way to share hardware is being looked at and used. Almost nothing about it is dedicated. For more information click ichoosehosting.in

How does web hosting work?
I am currently building a website to showcase my artwork. I have never dealt with web hosting before, so I was hoping to receive some pointers. How does it work? What should I look for? I was thinking about getting it from godaddy.com because I don't know of any other sites, but I am not sure if thats a good idea. I also have no idea what happens after I purchase web hosting.

Yes your right. Without web host you cannot run or build website. It is very important that your web host is affordable, reliable, 100% server uptime and then 24/7 support. So choose web host wisely.

Web hosting is a selection of services that renders it realizable for a web portal to be available online and be accessible from any country in the world. When you type a domain in a browser's location bar, what you see are the website files that are situated on the hosting servers of a website hosting company. The web hosting service also offers the possibility to set up electronic mails using your domain, to create and administer databases, to create password-defended sections, and to trace all site visitors..
