Make posts in related forums, submit your site to search engines (eventually spend some money: yahoo or google). Send e-mails to people who could be interested

Hi all!

The bigger fallacy about on-line sales is a theory that amount of sales has any dependence upon the number of visitors.

What actually defines your sales is a quality of incoming traffic, rather than its cheer numbers.

Traffic quality varies by its source, and the top ones are:
1. SE traffic, provided that the keywords are right
2. Banner traffic, provided that you plainly tell the potential customer what to expect on your site AND provided that the site meets those expectations
3. Link exchange with similar resources
4. Ratings, directories, link lists.
5. Bookmark traffic

Word-of-a-mouth is good too, but the effectiveness is pretty hard to track, so it can hardly be justly put on any specific position

If you have a website and want to get more traffic and hits.
Try this free service. It give you 1 visitor when you open
your browser two times. All you have to do is set your home
page to their address. This is like a traffic exchange program
except you don't need to give any traffic to start, just yourself.
There is also a Pro package which enables you to buy traffic.
But the free service works just fine for me.

thats retarded, i like my hits real hits.... as you can see, my site http://www.geocities.com/fastmanfunnay has many hits, and the only advertising I did was going onto STARCRAFT (its a computergame) and spamming my site all over. I have way over 10,000 hits now....

He doesn't need to hire an SEO. SEO's are terrible at taking money and not delivering results.

Read this:

And this:

Optimize your pages - then get links. You can have in house staff do the link-getting for min. wage.

Very true.

No. The quality can be great, but if the marketing elements are effectively in play, you've wasted both your time and the consumer's time. Get an effective sales pitch in there. One that convinces the consumer you're the best place to get the products/services you offer.

Of course, SEO really should require link building as a major focus. :)
