Hi, I work for a design company that is looking to get into reselling web hosting. I'm looking for recommendations from people as to good, reliable web hosts. We have had major problems with messed up billing with another major host that we are currently using, so great customer support is key! Especially since we are new to this.
Here are more details of what we are looking for (numbers are flexible):
Windows dedicated or VPS server
1.7 GHz
512 RAM
30-40 GB drive with some sort of backup drive
30-50 GB transfer
SQL server
At least 6 IPs
Control panel to manage accounts and let customers manage accounts
Unlimited email addresses
Some sort of web stats for each account on our server
Any recommendations? I'm NOT interested in solicitations. Rather, I want to know what real users have to say, not hosting sales people.
Thanks!
Zoe

Hi Zoe
I'm not going to recommend a particular company to you only point you towards some that you should research. Have a look at the Reseller Spotlight Category (http://www.webhostdir.com/spotlight/reseller.asp) and make a shortlist.
We, well the other members, will then be able to give you some feedback on those companies that you have shortlisted.

Sarah,
Thanks for the list. Do you know what criteria was used to get these people on this list -- ie, did they pay to be on it? That's been my main problem with most of these web hosting directories -- they are just collections of ads. Which is why I turned to the forums, to get real opinions. But if this is not just a collection of ads, I will definitely look into it!

I am sure that I am late in this reply but take a look at www.hostmei2v.com reseller plans. There are at very good price.

Yes they pay :)...
I would suggest just taking a look arround and seeing what fits your needs.
www.frandt.com has some pretty good deals, and we pride ourselves in quality service.

I would suggest taking a look @ Nocster.
Nocster (http://www.nocster.com)
The basic configuration you are looking for is available under $100 monthly - and you have the box all to yourself.
you can control the DNS servers... and such -
A good webadmin service is Fast Server Management -
I can get you the URL if you PM me -
I have used Nocster (which is actually Burst.net) as well as FAst Server Management for some time -and they are very reliable.
I have gone through a number of companies, such as Rackshack/EV1, Nocster, and also Rackspace.
The only one I ever really had any issues with - was Rackshack.
Nocster is very reliable - in my experience.
I now am using a few different locations to co-locate my servers in, as its better to keep my eggs in a few baskets vs. just one.
Best of Luck.

FR&T are simply the worst hosting company I have ever found. I was only with them for a couple of months, using them to host 2 professional websites. On the occasions when I could actucally access my site and email the response was very slow.
Support is non-existent - unanswered emails and tickets.
FR&T offer free hosting which is run from the same system as paying customers - ultimately the paying customers subsidise free accounts.
Cannot rate them low enough - very bad experience. Stay well clear

Hi
I have a dedicated server with only 20 websites and no spammers and would be glad to give you a reseller account for $30 per month. You can basically name your package as I have no other resellers and I'm trying to get a certain number of clients (very low) so I can get a second dedicated server. No "sales push" here, just letting you know I'm alive!

With that system specification, it will be under $100 / month from a unmanaged server company.
Do you have a budget in mind?

You can post your needs in findmyhosting, hostvoice and some other directories; they will send the information to 8 or 10 companies as leads. According to your need those companies will send you the mail and then you can select your hosting provider as per your requirement.

You may request free quotes at the following web sites as well.
It will save your time for searching each company's web site one by one trying to find a good deal.
www.HostQuote.com and www.HostMarker.com will help you find a host you are looking for. At least, you will get contacts from web hosts and you can research the general opinion on them by searching web hosting forums...
