Hey,. some of you guys warned me about tacidhost... Wel everything was going great,.. but some of his domains had been caught with illegal stuff (reseller you know) so fasthost shut down the whole account,.. I haven't got a host anymore,...

Does anybody know another host, without ads, unlimited : subs, space, email, transfer?

it may not cost over 35$ a year,... (if thats possible)

please respond soon,.

I don't know about others, but I personally stay away from unlimited space and transfer claims, because they aren't being completely truthful. They offer "unmonitored" or "unmetered" or "unlimited" bandwidth, but in the end, if you exceed x amount of gigs in a month, they'll either hit you up with the fees, or shut down your site (usually without notice).

Also, $35 a year comes to just under $3 a month. If you do find such a provider that gives you what you are asking for $35 a year, please let us know. :)

GuitarBoy.

I highly recommend http://www.dim8.net to you. The owner Robert has taken in a number of tacidhost users and no doubt he'll benefit from it. They don't have a $36 a year deal but do have a $50 a year deal. You get 50mb diskspace and 5GB bandwidth. You'll be in extremly good hands with dim8.net

Hello GuitarBoy,

I do know of several hosting plans that will do what you need.

I agree that claims of "Unlimited" anything are always suspect.

Follow the URL below to find the hosting I mentioned (these are solid companies that will be around a LONG time).

By the way, instead of just buying from a reseller, be a reseller yourself! It's simple, just follow the url below.

Yes, that happens once in awhile at crappy hosts. You should try CIHost next.

You shouldn't expect unlimited transfer and space (only taxes and death CAN ever be unlimited). Because if you had a site like Yahoo.com, do you think they want to host your thousands a month web site on a $35 a year plan? I don't think so. You are asking for extremely cheap web hosting as it is, they going to probable loose money on you as it is, who wants to work for $35 a year, not a month??? $3 a month? That wont even cover the bandwidth, if you use a gig or two???

I'm sorry, but some people just expect the whole world, plus dessert for nothing. You get what you pay for. You want cheap service, that is exactly what you will get. You are asking for a service that costs more than $3 a month, when you can't even go get a value meal at a fast food place that cheap, most of them. They are like $4 - 5 here in Texas. Then you want a complete web hosting service that costs thousands all together, for just $3 a month????

I tell you, the hosting industry use to be so nice, back when computers were very expensive, then it was only the rich people that was online and web hosting was waaaaay up there (like in 95). Now, this industry is so bad, people want everything for nothing and it is just irritating.

Just my opinion.

Very, very well said, Curtis.

Yes Curtis - You are in the right ballpark.

Something for Nothing is what too many expect. But I expect that they will most likely wind up with Nothing for Something (as little as it is).

I suspect that we need to have patience and the "crappy" folks in this business will drift on to something else. REAL customers in need of quality hosting will eventually see the light - after enough downtime, non-existent support and "amateur" billing practices.

The big question is, how long will it take? Don't know, but I think there are many excellent people in the web hosting business that actually CARE about giving their customers a good product.

Those that don't care won't last because it will show.

My two cents :)

I can remember back in 96 when I paid 75 bucks a month for a Unix "reseller 2" account with the 6thwave that allowed me to host more than one domain. I got something like a whopping 10MB for that amount-not bad considering my sites fit on a single floppy when I started. At that time web hosting was still considered an expensive luxury.

You got no bells and whistles with it just space on the server that you could use as you wished, but no one expected control panels, all that was still in the future. I was thankful to be able to host my very own web pages, plus have the bragging rights. With the help of a stack of ...for dummies books I managed quite nicely.

Now, cheap hosts abound and hosting has become a commodity that people want to get as much product for as little outlay. Hosting is not a commodity, and it's not a product. It's a service, and as with most services, in general: the more you pay, the better the service.

Unless you are dealing with a crooked service provider and then it doesn't matter how much or how little you pay, you are going to get the shaft.

The good service providers do outlast the crooked ones, I just checked and my first host, the6thwave is still in business. If you need a host, they come highly recommended. They are not a cheap host, they are a good host.

I would host his web site if you are wanting to take a chance of your own personal computer being hacked. :)

Whatever you do...don't part with your money before you have a look at OpenHosting ( http://OpenHosting.co.uk ).

I have used them for some time now and have always been impressed by their service...not to mention cheap.

For 20 pounds a year you get ASP, PHP, JMail, CGI, 1GB/month bandwidth, 20Mb space, POP email, FTP, WAP...crikes I can't remember what else...

I have yet to hear of an unstified customer...I'm surprised I don't see mention of them on this forum.

I agree Jan ! Adam and Openhosting are a very reputable company! I also agree with Technics that www.dim8.net and Robert are an excellent choice as well!

What do you guys think of fasthosts???
tell me about it... Becasue their severs and packages are great, but those resellers are crap most of the time.. my friend and I would like to be a reseller and offer real good hosting.. Most of the cheap hosts are taking too much hosting, and then they cannot control the data anymore..and then fasthost delete that domain... with its reselled packages...

but if we don't too many sites then i think we will doing ok..
(and make not to cheap packages!)

Adam and Mark run an excellent Webhost. OpenHosting was created when Truehosting was giving clients the run around. They created the company with one goal. To make the customer happy before profit you can tell that from the prices and now they have over 700 customers and are in profit and the service just keeps getting better.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to use FastHosts. They cant keep servers online. They cant tell the truth about how many connections they have. They provide aweful support and have rude and uneducated people manning the support telephones.
