I currently manage a fasthosts dedicated server for a client. From day one I have had problems with the thing - it took them a week to even set the thing up - complete incompetants.

The latest farce was when I recieved a bill for £500 for excess bandwidth - I wanted proof that the bandwidth had indeed been used, but rather than provide me with the information they decided to pull the plug on the server. The client stumped up the money but the server was still not connected.

The short story is I called them at 6pm asking them to get an engineer to fix the situation. And reading their service agreement:

"If your server suffers a hardware fault we promise to have a technician working on it within 30 minutes after you report it to us and to keep you regularly updated as to the progress of your fault. This applies 24 hours a day 365 days a year.".

No problem I thought, the cable will be back in, in less than 30 minutes - not so simple - the tech guys tell me the engineers go home at 5pm and won't be back on site till 9am the next day.

I was livid as you can imagine - I have reported Fasthosts to trading standards and will not be renewing the dedicated server account, or my existing reseller account.

bye bye Fasthosts, I'm sick of you.

Please don't mind but I think reselleing Dedicated Server is HUGE Risk as you have already taken it.

Well not having 24/7 technical or any other type of service is really not a sign of good service.

I should have been put off a long time before this - It took them over a week to set the thing up in the first place - the server had a faulty hard disk controller and had to be rebuilt.

When this happened I had to wait over 3 days for them to even look at the problem because it was a bank holiday weekend and the engineers don't work them at all.

Bunch of criminals if you ask me - I have already started moving my reseller account away from them, and have no intention of gracing their services ever again.

Most of them(unreliable) do the same thing. They put in the reapaired parts on your server. As your are not in front of it so you will never come to know that whether it original or repaired one.

This exactly the right move. You have to immediately shift all your users to some other server.

But it is always better to know the Companies reputation before buying a server specially when you have to resell it.

Well, All my good wishes are with you. B.O.L ;)
