Have You guys compared the rates that UK web hosts are charging for data transfer?

Most UK web hosts have rediculous bandwidth fees!

Fasthosts and Host Europe's "Dedicated-Servers.co.uk" are both chargin 2p per MB Thats £20.48 per GB!

I compare that to my bandwidth costs hosting in Spain... 50 cents per GB!

Yeah my £20.48 would buy 55 times as much bandwith in Spain as it does in the UK. And we have 100% Connectivity as the datacentre we use is served by 3 providers.

Why the difference?

You host is the most expensive for bandwidht by far and is not a good representation of 'common' pricing levels. On the whole, prices are around £1.00 per gig for good quality bandwidth. However, you will find some doing it for less if you look in the right place.

I hope this helps

Actually its one of the cheapest. I use a spanish provider and we get 200 GB/month included in our fee and nowdays I can buy additional bandwidth at 2 Euros/GB (£1.40/GB)

Back in the UK its still at £20+/GB thats 30 Euros/GB with most providers. I would never pay those kinda prices.

The cheapest I've found so far in the UK has been £6 per GB that's 10 Euros/GB. Right now I'm happy in Spain.

Not sure what companies you are looking at but there are many I can list all at £1.00 or less. Also, you do not have the interconnect capabilities in Spain as you do in London or other major European hubs. Hence, the prices you receive in Spain!

Check out your pings to those in London, Frankfurt etc.

You get what you pay for!
