Name Needed

Okay, folks, we had a prior discussion regarding name ideas, but that was some time ago http://forums.webhostdir.com/showthread.php?threadid=367

Here are the names we came up with so far, let's open the floor for more discussions and on 7/1/01 we will vote on a name for this incipient organization.

becuase it has international in the name which IMO is very important since hosts and hosting consumers are from all over the world. Also sounds professional, image matters when you set up an organization like this and I think this name just about projects the right one.

I propose we bring forward the voting since there has been little dicussion on this.

Due to the long list of names I think we should use a system whereby the unpopular names are discarded. I suggest a two ballot system. I suggest we each get three votes and each name that has more then 3 votes will go forward to the final round.

In the final round we each get three votes carrying one, two and three points. The name with the highest points wins and will forever go down in history!

Im not sure if this is vacation season, or what, but there is little going on in this forum, now that we've finally got our full roster of committee members.

My thought was that we'd get enough of a consensus to do a short list of names for a single poll, instead of voting names off the island until we came down the a single Survivor.

Tommy, if you want to take the point on the names voting, as you seem to have a plan in mind, I'll pass that over to you.

My apologies for not frequenting this board more often. I also agree with the suggestion of International Association of Web Hosts (iawh.org). So I guess for now that has my vote.

I must admit my voting system was perhaps a little over complex. I wanted to make sure that the good names were not quickly discounted which easily happens when you have just one vote each and over 10 names.

I'll draw up a final shortlist from what we've discussed here and from names people have mentioned and voiced preferences for.

The final shortlist will be here later today, 27th June. If you want a name in please mention it here and feel free to give a reason or explain why to drum up further support.
