The prices do look pretty good.

The low-end model for $200/month should do well for your site. Provided you choose the option for Linux and not NT4 or 2000-128MB of RAM is just not enough RAM for those resource hungry OS's. And if you are using scripting or other resource drainers, you might want to see if a RAM upgrade is possible.

Just be sure and check out the small print, and find out the price for bandwidth overages before signing anything or forking over any cash.

Yeah Phoenix ,.. I got it :) It was a fair deal and i will definately sell away the space left , i have couple of close friends in mind who i can rent it for a bit cheaper price then they are on.

And hey as it's so addictive (the money part) i might set up my own hosting company, i am always on 24 hours a day anyway.. so the 24 service won't bother me a bit hehe

:)

99.5% uptime guarantee, that's pretty low for a colocation provider.. I know this discussion exists elsewhere! ;) That's 216minutes downtime a month.

Once again i am here to think over the luck i have had in the past
======================

The experience with sectorlink has been absolutely worthless as here is what's happened:-

1. I joined and tried to NOT do what i did in the past , that was to expect too much from the host

2. Paid for the setup and monthly rate of 180 dollars. Got my server

3. The machine was to be setup on wednesday but i got it on Friday, even though it was ordered three weeks before

4. I got email regarding my dedicated server, but with the wrong IP addrses

5. Then i was to be given a tutorial which lasted 14 minutes , then 10 minutes, then 20 minutes.
and it was me who was calling international rate from my mobile costing me the whole month's
rent in two days via my bill..

6. Well most of the things were shown but then they found out that the username management was
messed, so they took that off and put it in webmin, which i had no idea of using as it wasn's shown
so i guessed my way around that.

7. Then my mail server was messed up that sent me my mass mail opt-in list members mailing
back to me , all 10000 of the mails in my hotmail all at once... (which later they just said
oh there was something wrong with the mail server it was fixed on 10 bla bla)

8.Then i put up something on the site with PHP which i had asked for on the installation day.
which i found out last week WASN'T INSTALLED (the mod)

9.I got the ensim control panel to start hosting websites on the space i had left, over 50GB
well i bought the panel handed it over to them with all serials and i get an email saying

WE CAN'T INSTALL IT UNLESS WE HAVE THE SERIALS (hello it's in the mail..)

10. then i get an email saying they have sent a request to ensim to see if it will work with
linux 7+ . and ensim usually replies within an hour or so, but they kept on holding me back
for a week, i didn't get in touch with ensim myself cuz i was paying them for installation
and thought well lets see what they get upto.

11. Then i get an email saying SIGN PLEASE that if something goes wrong with the server
we are not responsible...and etc... I said ok but i don't think you can run away not giving
me support on major issues like the server going down etc.. etc.. they hesitated but said yes ok

12. then they talked me out of ensim and said you could use webmin to manage your
hosting space, which is 1000% harder than the other easy control panels, for me and ofcourse
for the clients..

13. I sent an email about my SQL database not working, i got an email with the correct host,
which was infact misspelt like most of the IP addresses i had recieved ever. So i wait another
hour for a correct one. And was told we have fixed your error you had misspelt the HOSt address
( hmmm ok )

14. Later on i was told of an tutorial which was to be given to me for webmin management, while
i believe i have set up 8 domains up there testing and doing them myself .. as the first one
i was shown around with didn't work properly :( And still haven't been able to find out how to
chroot the users out so of the ftp root...

15. A Tutorial was to be given around 1AM UK time and i am still waiting it's 3:00 and i believe
i should be sleeping and start dreaming if i could ever find a perfect host.

==============

I hope with the above notes you can say .. none of it was my fault.. it's just i always end
up at the wrong place.

yeah man, biting is alright as long as it doesn't bite in my pockets like it's right now.. Humans make mistakes, but accepting them makes the client aware that he's in the hands of people who "give a s**t" :(

oh yeah i got a reply saying "we didn't send a wrong IP" hmmm i believe i am the biggest liar then isn't it.. as i don't have anything better to do then pay my programmers bomb money to implement wrong codes sent from the server guys :(

Hi pooragal. sorry you're having some real bad luck. I know I've said it before, but I really feel that you should resell initially to get your business off the ground and not run your own server.

You are spending all your time fiddling with technical stuff when you could be marketing and selling your companys' services.

Wait until you've got an established client base and brand and then go for your own dedicated server. Got to be the easiest route in. All you have to do is to find a good hosting reseller and there's plenty of chat about that here.

I'm sure all the hosting experts here would agree [I'm no hosting expert]

Yeah true Chunder, actually i just wanted a bit of control and it would have been possible with a bit of seriousness from their side, well yeah i am looking into hostopia... sound good.

Have 5 or 6 people at the moment who are willing to move over if i can give them something good, and i thought it would only be possible if i have my own server.. so i could allocate spaces and just pay off my monthly rent.

But yeah i will see what hostopia can do :)
