Hi,

Can anyone suggest an NT Host with ASP and MS Access support that is reliable? I seem to have had a pretty bad experience so far with all the top hosts.

We were with Burlee in the beginning, but found they had cooked up email responders which hardly answered your problems. Also there were all kinds of hidden charges. Then we were with HostPro for a significant amount of time, but I finally got tired of the frequent outages on the ASP pages. The support was reachable by phone but couldn't fix the issue - they actually told us to upgrade to higher end packages ($60+ per month)! Then I heard about DellHost and switched to them. Glowing PC Magazine Review. The Dell name. 99.9% uptime guarantee. Since I shifted to them on 25th Jan I have had 2 hours ASP (and even FrontPage) downtime in the first 24 hours and today (1/30) all ASP has been down on my site from 11am to 4pm now, continuing...the support staff is very friendly and calls you back but what is the point if the website stays down? That is the bottomline!

Please tell me about any reputed company that has kept your ASP/Database applications running smoothly...

Thanks in advance,

Rahul Malhotra

Hi Rahul,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having trouble. I was just wondering if it could be your ASP thats brining your site down. What are you trying to do?

hi tjw, i doubt if it is the code...i mean most of the time it works just fine - i had gone for a year without a problem with hostpro and i haven't made a modification for two years! then they started to have ASP downtime which kept on increasing until i decided to shift to dellhost a week ago. now i am lucky to see the ASP files up at all for the last one week...

i am trying to look at burlee and tera-byte (they're in canada) but after dellhost i have really taken a hit. i might just leave this business of running a dot com and concentrate on development work only! i suppose unless one can pay for a dedicated server it's going to be a bed of thorns.

sorry for the pessimism...but that's how i feel.

HI

Have you tried http://www.fasthosts.co.uk. They offer 24 hour support. When I first went with them I had some problems but lately I haven't had any problems. I am running on NT 4 and not 2000 so I couldn't comment about there heavily pushed 2000 version.

hiya
every service will experience some down time.it should be the exception not the rule though.you get these "guarantees" from everybody usually worded as "up to" 99% uptime - straight paraphrase out of the w2k server manual.be realistic and expect some downtime-not much though and certainly tech support should be able to fix your probs.
cheers

There are no setup fees so you don't have to worry about that. I'm not sure what conenction they have got I know they are from the UK and are quite cheap. If you wnat to see speed then you can look at my sites http://www.ufowatch.com or http://www.clubpages.co.uk. They are both running off of my fasthosts account so you may be able to get an idea of speed. They are really budget hosts but they are allways on hand for tech support via the phone.
