I got one of the burst.net $99 dedicated servers running some great control panel software, and I am very happy. I had a great conversation to on of their sales reps. I was choosing between them and three other companies. I would recommend them.

Just a follow up:
I have one of these $99.95 dedicated servers with Burst.net. I've had it for about 1.5 months now. All I can say is that I definately am going to stick with them. Well I kinda have to because it is a 6 month contract on this special. But atleast I had 30 days to evaluate the server before comitting, cause they have that 30 day money back policy. What I am saying though is that Burst.net has provided really great service to me, even though I only have their cheapest server. I have not had a single minute of downtime yet (I am in their new data center though) and their support guys seem pretty friendly. One of their admins who works on the control panel software has been quite helpful in showing me the ropes. I'd give them a try. You can't really loose with that 30 day guarantee. They refund setup fees too if you cancel.

arcadia does indeed seems very pleased with the services he/she recieves from this company. So much so he/she has been posting it on every forum known to mankind. More than a few people have requested his/her website address so they can check out the speed and quality of the service themselves. Several weeks have elapsed and not website has been forthcoming.... Personally I smell fish.

You can take arcadia's recommendation above however you like though it's probably not a good idea to consider it an iron clad guarantee...

Quite frankly, from the posts I see BurstNET perform on the WHT forums... I would staple myself to the ceiling before I would ever host with them... but that's my opinion.

BTW, akashik... perch or cod?

Mike

Or maybe it's down to expectations Do you need a lot of support? Is uptime critical to you? Need plenty of features and components installed on the servers?

:)

Support at BurstNet has been wonderful for me.
Uptime has been great.
Since when does Burst have to install programs for you? Well i guess you can pay them.

This is just me but ... If i had $99 a month to spend on a server i wouldnt waste my money at BurstNET. I'd go with 4webspace.com, Which i have done. Granted it's cost me in Ram upgrades but my RAQ3 with 256mb ram has worked wonders. We've had our problems and tera-byte have fixed them with in hours. They have at times said they would charge us $50 an hour todo some of the tech stuff they have done but once they completed the job they would email us and say there is no charge.

For instance yesterday one of our partitions was starting to swell up, One tech told us it would cost $50 an hour and needed our permission to start work, We gave them permission they carried out the work and from what i gather they were logged in for 37 minutes, They mailed us told us the work was done and there would be no charge.

When i was a newbie to the hosting market i tryed using burst.net and had a worst time with them than i did with truehosting.com. My Advice move your $99 a month server to a company that does care and will provide you with a quality service.

I wouldnt use a RAQ if you paid me.

Agreed. One of our customers recently upgraded from shared hosting to a co-lo and brought in a RAQ XTR. This was the first of them that we've had around here-all the rest of our customers use either basic Unix or NT servers.

They have been going through h**l with that thing, they still don't have it working properly after over a month. They've had nothing but problems with it. The interface got blown out so they are trying to configure it manually.

Our customer bought a RAQ because they were supposed to be so much easier and cheaper than a standard web server. This turned out to be not the case.

The XTR is known to have lots of problems. But the problems weve had could of happened on any normal linux machine.
