So in your opinion which one is "better" and why? I'll probably play around with them both on a beta server before creating an automation script, but I'd like your opinion.

hi
hi
If you?re a web designer, a developer or hosting provider, chances are that you?ve heard of that open-source shopping cart system called osCommerce. Maybe you?ve even used it.
But what about Zen Cart??
For those in the dark, Zen Cart? is a free shopping cart system that?s easy to install, customize and use, much like the osCommerce application, only better (well, according to its users anyway). Actually, many consider it to be based on the osCommerce code (since its developers have worked extensively on that system), albeit a bit more simplified.
According to its developers, the Zen Cart? system was designed with the needs of online merchants, shoppers, web designers, developers and hosting providers in mind.

I prefer Zen-Cart for it's excellent attribute system, easy template modification and WYSIWYG editor along with many other features.
Here are some comparisons

thanks for the info. I have always thought oscommerce to be lacking in some very necessary functions such as easy template integration, and the development on it seems to have stalled?

Both works great on our Hosting platform at ServerPacket.com. However, we have clients choosing OScommerce over Zen because they can find better templates on Template monsters.

oscommerce
I have a fully modified oscommerce that has affiliate built in, pdf catalog generator and more that blows the others away in features. I have used ZenCart (
), Oscommerce (
) and CubeCart (
) as well as a custom store I coded (
) and oscommerce is the best of the bunch if has been modded and features added in

I've used both extensively and would give Zen the thumbs up. More features and far easier to customise it's pages.

I would rate Zen Cart over OSCommerce anyday. From some of the reading I have done it seems that Zen Cart is an offshoot of OSCommerce - a better more refined version of what some of the developers were enisioning.
I've used Zen Cart, and it's easy to use, highly configurable, and the code isn't nearly as convoluted!Peter Marek

Hi folks,
What do you think about Magento?
Now days Magento is booming in eCommerce world and I think It's a great alternative of Zencart and Oscommerce. If you put all selection criteria next to each other, it will turn out that Magento development is a fully-fledged eCommerce platform.

Yes indeed, Magento too is a nice eCommerce platform, but if made to choose between Magento, Zen Cart and OScommerce, I would choose Zen Cart. I have used all three of them and have found Zen Cart to be much better than the rest. Thats my experience though, may be someone else might be more satisfied with any of the other platforms.
