I'm really new to the hosting game. I have a registered domain name but I don't know how to link it to my webserver's IP address. Who takes care of that????
I have the hardware and the bandwidth for dedicated server hosting.
I have 2 T1 lines for bandwidth, 2 Sun Cobalt RaQ 4 Servers running Solaris 8, and a Win2k server
Any help would be greatly appreciated, so I can get this thing off the ground

setup your own dns or use a free dns nameserver to point to your IP. Eg http://www.mydomain.com

that is a easy task...first you have default set your name server to local name server of the domain name seller you bought domain from. then go and add your domain in your hosting server account addon panel... then add a A record in your DNS of domain with the server ip...and you are done...to go alive..in hours..

your best solution provider is the company from where you purchase the Domain name. They will give you CP of Domain name and you can set your IP address there.

You do not need a DNS server. If you registered your domain with the company, should be given some kind of DNS provider so you can point a domain somewhere. Just do a little ;Documents to show all your home IP.

I agree with the comments above. You should just need to got to your domain name control panel and change the DNS settings to use the IP you want, though in my case, my host gave me a name server to plug in...
Did you ever get this working?

It's Simple
You can point your domain to your hosting account address by going in your domain registration account and point it to your server. It's simple.
