Are you looking for the hosting company?
Well I'd advise you to use hosting services from Aspnix.com 'cause their services are low cost and resourceful and their support is friendly and helpful in running your business.

You can start as a reseller. You can also join organizations (like a chamber) that can help you get a little bit of a leg up of businesses who can use your services. This is the precursor before I would consider whether acquiring dedicated servers to host your client stuff or you get your own servers. I, though, would recommend against attempting to host sites from a Win XP or Vista box. Believe it or not, people have tried.

First you need to see :-

    1) How much money you want to invest ?
    2) Did you have a website ?
    3) Then have to buy a reseller hosting account
    4) Think about how you are going to collect payments from your clients.
    5) How much technical knowledge you have, that help you to manage your customer problems OR you may look for a company offering anonymous support.

However, i have seen many shared hosting clients also do reselling from a shared hosting account....

If you need to ask such a general question then you're probably in the wrong business.

    Starting Web Hosting Company

    Start with becoming reseller.

Once you know how market works and know how to get customers, have your own dedicated server and provide hosting solutions to mid size and small business.

Cater to small, be prepared for big, and one day you will be big.

Its like any other business you will need a business plan, lots of researching. I would research the web hosting industry for a couple months to find out what you can offer and finding a niche.

@ OP, I'd recommend you to start your business with a famous company to avoid glitches that can be faced with the company which business isn't known, say bluehost, serverpoint, godaddy are quite nice for beginners.

First, become a reseller at any web hosting company. Increase your clientele. Select a company that provides all technologies and features like SSL certificates.

What you need is a little research of a reseller and other things like vps, dedicated servers you need to do research to find out information as people are going to ask you questions and you dont want to stay quiet you need to no. But after your research and you feel confident buy a reseller but that offers cpanel donot go with godaddy resellers they have no cpanel and they are just not the place to get a reseller. If you want shared there ok but not for reseller. And try to get your own private name servers if possible alot of research have fun

It's not an easy task to maintain a web host even with reselling some other company's web hosting, if you are new in this field. You need to employ a couple of support staff who are capable of answering and salving any problems your clients may come up with. For a newbie to hosting, reseller packages are the best bet along with some good support staff. And the competition in the field is too high to survive.

You can also set up your own servers without having to resell other web hosts under your brand name, but that is a lot tougher than reselling hosting.

There are some options for outsourcing your support as well if you're not capable of providing proper support yourself. It all depends on how hands-on you really want to get.

There are many points at consider before starting a new hosting business: budget, space, which server or control panel, mail server, purchase new servers, support staff etc.

You should go for a reseller plan or VPS rather than purchasing a new server.
