Have Banners Been Effective for You?

I've read a lot that banner advertizing isn't taken seriously by the majority of mainstream advertizers, but still can't give up completely the idea of using banners and experimenting with then. I don't have a lot to be proud of - I mean one one banner can perform better than another, but I've never been happy with either performance.
So I wonder if you use banner advertizing and how successful this is in your case.
Can you share any good sites and blogs with tips how to improve banners performance.

Tips on banners? Yeah. Don't use 'em.

Banners are the internet equivilant of the 30 second TV spot with no hook. Your brain is trained to tune them out.

Go for something else. Text, flash... anything but a standard non-moving banner.

In Traditional Online Marketing banners are supposed to be channel for branding but past two years banners are part of perfomance marketing too.
I would suggest you too get a cpc deal rather then cpm deals reason ou will leave the optimisation part to web site owner you have to work on designing the offer on your landing pages thats it.

Banner ads help visitors remember your company. It's a good way to spread your brand out there.

I agree with everyone else - banners are only good for branding. They will get your occasional sale though.

As far as using banner advertising for web hosting, I really dont recommend it unless you can find some dirt cheap site with decent traffic.

Banner advertising on big web hosting forums and directories is going to run you dry before you can even blink.

Banner ads will give you results if you place them in right place.Try some webhosting blogs, webhosting review sites,webhosting news sites to place your banners.
