Question need a free web host with no ads and practically no restrictions

does anyone know of any free web hosts with NO ADDS and NO horrible advertisements? i can't stand those freaking popup windows and those ugly banners. like at angelfire, my god that popup window is so annoying. i also have to have a laid back web host that won't erase your page if they find any part of it "questionable. i already tried internettrash.com, and it would have been perfect, but they're not accepting any new signups right now does anyone have any recommendations

Got to pay the piper somehow

Heinlein said it best: TANSTAAFL (There ain't no such thing as a free lunch).

"Free" hosts still have to receive some form of compensation for the service they provide, and most do it by selling advertising which they place on the sites hosted there (geocities is the category leader for this type of hosting service).

This segment of the market is in a lot of trouble right now, because advertising revenues are not high enough to pay for the services anymore (unlike the glory days of last year when CPM's were high and dotcoms who based their future profitability on banner advertising where the darlings of VC's everywhere). This is why a lot of them are going to a fee for service model or restricting future signups.

When it comes to the terms of service regarding 'questionable' content, the free hosts usually have rather tight TOS agreements and reserve the right to remove any content that is in violation of their TOS.
    The original has this signature.

What kind of restrictions are you concerned about?

There's always going to be restrictions no matter where you go. Even paid hosting has restrictions (correct me if I'm wrong people).

It's just a matter of when they find out

f2s does seem to be the most widely favoured of the free server options around at the moment. I still firmly believe you'll never get the same quality from a free server as a paid host, but if you're happy with what you'll get from them, then they are probably a very good option... From my understanding of them they support a fair amount of 'extra' things such as cgi and php and have a fair to good record for speed and uptime. I think you can alias your domain name to them as well which would be a boost for most businesses starting out online and realize a long domain name isn't a great solution
